Gateshead and Whickham Graded April 2007. Wear Valley ASC's swimmers competed in April in the Gateshead and Whickham Spring Graded Gala held at Felling pool. Wear Valley saw a clean sweep of the medals in the girls 12 years 400m IM with Amy Brown, Hayley Bradley and Lauren Teasdale finishing strongly in 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Amy Brown collected another six gold medals (200m backstroke, 50m and 200m breaststroke, 400m freestyle , 200m IM and 50m freestyle). 9 year old Karl Teasdale won 2 gold medals in 50m butterfly and 200m breaststroke.The Hodgson family of Philip, Emma and Adam also won 8 gold medals between them. Philip won gold in 200m backstoke, 200m and 400m freestyle in the 15years and over age group. Emma (13)was victorious in 200m and 400m freestyle, 400m IM and 200m butterfly. Adam's gold medal came in the boy's 10 years 200m freestyle. 5 silver medals were won on the day. Karl Teasdale in the 50m and 200m freestyle , 11 year old Caiti Washbourne in the 50m breaststroke, Hayley Bradley in the 400M IM, Lauren Teasdale in the 200m butterfly and Philip Hodgson in the 400m IM. Bronze medals were won by Amy Attle (9 years 50m backstroke), Karl Teasdale (9 years 200 IM), Megan Baker (10 years 400m freestyle), Bethany Briggs (10 years 200IM), Lee Hibbits (10 years 200m breaststroke), Alex Attle (11 years 50m freestyle), Lauren Teasdale (12 years 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 200m backstroke) and Philip Hodgson (15 years and over 200 IM). 9 year olds Matthew Bradley, Chloe Peers and Annie Padgett and 10 year old Georgia Maughan also swam well to record personal times in their first taste of competition. Other swimmers were Alex Stirk, Laura Bradshaw, Lauren Moore and Roy Tulloch.
