Middlesbrough Open May 2007.

A small Wear Valley squad of 8 swimmers competed in the 6th Middlesbrough Open Meet at the weekend.

14year old Patrick Callan led the way with wins in 200m IM, 100m and 200m Breaststroke and 400m freestyle. He added to his medal collection with a silver in 200m freestyle, a bronze in 100m backstroke and a fourth place in 100m freestyle. His high placings in all these events earned him the Top Boy award in his age group.

12 year old Amy Brown also had several swims. Her best placing came in the 100m breaststroke where was 3rd.She followed this with a 7th place in the 200m breaststroke.Her other events were 200IM (8th), 200m backstroke (8th), 100m backstoke(9th), 100m freestyle(10th), 400m freestyle(10th), 200m freestyle (13th).

13 year old Emma Hodgson competed in all the freestyle events where she finished 7th in the 400m and 8th in the 100m and 200m. Her brother 15 year old Philip also copied this achievement by finishing 5th in 200m and 400m freestyle and 7th in 100m freestyle. 11 year old Lucy Holmes also competed in the freestyle events finishing 17th in 100m and 24th in 200m .

12 year old Hayley Bradley competed in 100m backstroke(20th) and 100m breaststroke (21st) and Lauren Teasdale finished 15th in 100m backstroke.

11 year old Caiti Washbourne also competed in 200m breaststroke finishing 20th

A successful meet was had by all and most swimmers recorded personal best times. Some swimmers also achieved Regional qualifying times.
